It is my proud privilege to serve as the President of one the most esteemed endoscopic societies of India. I am truly touched and honoured by the warm welcome I received from DGES fraternity.
Under flagship of Dr Sheila Mehra, the society started with loads of enthusiasm in 1993. Today, we can really be proud of its achievements over past 25 years and the major share of credit goes to our founder members, distinguished past Presidents and the entire membership in general. I thank Dr.S S Trivedi, Dr. Alka Kriplani and Dr. Malvika Sabharwal for having so generously devoted their time.
Gynaecological Laparoscopy has evolved from a limited surgical procedure used only for diagnosis and tubal ligations to a major surgical tool to treat a multitude of gynaecological problems. The theme for the year 2019-20 is “Breaking Barriers in Laparoscopy- From Diagnostics to therapeutics” which takes care of enhancing skills of DGES members in minimally invasive surgeries to the most modern techniques.
We recognise the necessity of structured approach for endoscopic training including CMEs, workshops, hands on training and conferences. The first upcoming event is a mega Annual conference in August. Over the course of 2 days, national speakers will exemplify how their research exploration has developed in response to present day challenges.
I, along with my hard working team, promise to make collective efforts to strengthen every member. It is heartening to see a lot of young budding gynaecologists learning endoscopic surgeries today. It is a very healthy sign and we look forward to their greater involvements in the professional association. The development of any venture will depend on the ability to input new energies, new ideas and new people.
As we shoulder this huge responsibility, I urge everyone to be actively involved and spread word to your colleagues to become member of DGES. Please encourage all the gynaecologists and trainees to join us in meeting the mission of our society.I await your conclusions and recommendations with much interest, since I am sure they will contribute greatly.
I would also like to focus on DGES website. In today’s world where people use smartphone’s and tablets it is important to be up to date with technology. I would like the DGES website to be self sufficient and interactive.
I also take this opportunity to cordially invite more and more gyneacologist to become member of this prestigious society.
We look forward to participation from all of you and work together and make DGES a vibrant society.
With warm regards
